G.O.A.T

“A dispute also arose among them, as to which of them was to be regarded as the greatest. And he said to them, “The kings of the Gentiles exercise lordship over them, and those in authority over them are called benefactors. But not so with you. Rather, let the greatest among you become as the youngest, and the leader as one who serves. For who is the greater, one who reclines at table or one who serves? Is it not the one who reclines at table? But I am among you as the one who serves. “You are those who have stayed with me in my trials, and I assign to you, as my Father assigned to me, a kingdom, that you may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom and sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel.”

## You’re The Real MVP

The term "G.O.A.T" or "greatest-of-all-time" in different areas have been sparked in conversations more than the past few years I've been alive. This topic can range from athletes, musicians, writers, painters, composers, directors of films, actors or actresses, and so on. Even in the Christian circle, we judge who we think is the best at prayer, preaching, commentary, and so forth. There is a standard put somewhere and then you have a list with logical points to see which has the best claim to be the G.O.A.T. Even with facts presented, people still carry opinions because no matter what is presented, that term will always have opinion written all over it. The word "arose" is in the middle form of the verb which means the subject is both doing the giving and receiving of an action. This simply implies that it wasn't a few talking about them being the greatest, but all of "them," every single person there was arguing the same case we do. Can you imagine how it would look to us if you placed those who are top rated as most influential Christian speakers in one room and listening to them have the same argument about who is doing the most for God?

Jesus presents an interesting comparison by bringing up the Gentiles way of doing things. I'm going to paraphrase what Jesus is saying here. "There are two ways you can see things. In the first we can look everywhere and see it in action. You have a main ruler over a people, then people who are given an order by the main ruler to exercise that rule to the people. The second is the way of My Kingdom. The greatest in this Kingdom is the servant, not the temporary ruler. I came to serve and give my life as a ransom. My Kingdom is made up of servants of God and people, for no one is greater than the other except those who fulfill the will of my Father."

## Self-Check

Each of us has a job to do on this earth for God. He assigns those tasks, and we can either do them or not do them. In other words, doing your task God assigned you makes you great, and it's within that task you are a servant of Him and other people which falls under the two greatest commandments. Never consider yourself above another believer. We all have a work to do and it's for His Glory that we do it, not our own.
