Even in the Last Hour
““Or what woman, having ten silver coins, if she loses one coin, does not light a lamp and sweep the house and seek diligently until she finds it? And when she has found it, she calls together her friends and neighbors, saying, ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found the coin that I had lost.’ Just so, I tell you, there is joy before the angels of God over one sinner who repents.””
Luke 15:8-10 →
## A Searchlight
The coin being found here is likened directly to a sinner who repents in the world. What we can first see is a light is turned on. Those who are lost are not just lost, but lost in the dark. And turning the light on isn’t simply all that’s needed to be found. A sweep is made; a diligent search performed... Though God uses us and His angels to find the other coins, it is totally a work of His own hand. He uses all the resources of heaven and earth to sweep the earth looking for one more coin. And He’s not searching for just any ol’ coin He might find, but specifically for coins that He knows are His.
## Sweeping in the Last Hour
It reminds me of Revelation, where at every turn, another opportunity is given. After the demon horse locust army of Rev. 9, it reads that the rest of mankind didn’t repent indicating it was hoped for that they would. John eats the scroll from the angel in Rev. 10, and he’s told to prophesy. A message is still going out. Then there are the two witnesses of Rev. 11...witnessing what? Speaking a message of God. Here finally a large number of people give glory to God. But God’s not finished sweeping and diligently searching for the coins! Even before the last Seven Plagues... Revelation 14:6-12 “Then I saw another angel flying directly overhead, with an eternal gospel to proclaim to those who dwell on earth… And he said with a loud voice, ‘Fear God and give Him glory...worship Him...Here is a call for the endurance of the saints, those who keep the Commandments of God and their faith in Jesus.”
Even between the very last plague and Armageddon itself is a call: Revelation 16:14-16 “...to assemble them for battle on the great day of God the Almighty. ‘Behold, I am coming like a thief! Blessed is the one who stays awake, keeping his garments on, that he may not go about naked and be seen exposed!’ And they assembled them at...Armageddon.”
## Self-Check
This is just a check today to remind you that our God is not willing that any should perish, but makes all effort to the last minute to call man out in mercy and grace.
