Time Worthy
“Then he said to them, “Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be great earthquakes, and in various places famines and pestilences. And there will be terrors and great signs from heaven.”
Luke 21:10-11 →
## Here Today
Recently considering the widow’s offering, Jesus highlights her faith in God; not the coins of her offering. The disciples turn right around and honor the “noble stones and offerings” of the Temple building. Jesus says, “Don’t be caught up in it. It’ll all be torn down.” So to the destruction of the Temple He adds, “By the way, the end is coming, but don’t be worried about that either.” Since coming to know Christ and watching His omnipotent hand orchestrate life around me, worry about certain things just isn’t there in me. The end of my life is one of those. After all, can nations rise and war without His allowance? Can your car break down without His allowance? Does the earth shake without His permission? Could you lose everything in a house fire without His permission? Could terrors and great signs come from the heavens from anyone else but Him? Just read Revelation.
## Gone Tomorrow
Jesus just told them not to honor the offering, and then they do anyway. Often we honor the Church building like a holy relic. It’s like putting that huge family Bible on the coffee table that nobody reads. Don’t touch it. Just admire it. You might as well enclose it in a fragile glass case. It’s the same as spending multi-millions on an earthly building to have church in, but spending almost nothing towards missions which would build up the Eternal Church. Jesus is trying to get them to see that so many of the earthly things we put faith in and give honor to have no longevity; no eternality. All this stuff is here today and gone tomorrow.
## Self-Check
## So what is worth our time?
Only what will last beyond time is worth our time; that’s God and people and our relationships with each of them. What will be remembered? Your decisions, actions, and intentions towards those people.
