Ripped
“And the curtain of the temple was torn in two.”

## The Details
In the Old Testament, God gave instructions to the people of Israel on how they were to construct a home for Him to dwell in. God wasn't just in the construction of a large building set apart for His dwelling, but He was into the details of every little thing (see order of creation in Genesis 1). He wanted certain things to be specific measurements and various objects placed at the right location. I personally believe He gave the details to test the obedience of the people, and to show us that God is in order and details. The outer court and inner court were separated by a curtain. The inner court was called the Holy of Holies and was cut off from everyone and everything else (see Hebrews 9 and Leviticus 16). God would meet a priest once a year in this place. Can you imagine the anticipation? Think about yourself as a kid or any kids you may know when it comes to Christmas. January is here and all these new toys come out, and you go through all these holidays to get to Christmas; the toys change and so does the interests of the kid. A lot happens in a year.
## The Divide
I’ve shared a little about my enjoyment over the years of professional wrestling in other devotions within this book. Perhaps the most well-known wrestler that has name recognition outside of the wrestling culture is Hulk Hogan. Almost everyone would notice him if he walked into a store or airport, even if he wasn’t in his ring gear. Whether he was showing up to wrestle in a match or was just there to make an appearance on television, one thing you would see almost one-hundred percent of the time is him ripping his shirt apart. He did this to showcase his strength, but also to hype the people for what was about to come.
At the sacrifice of God's Son, that curtain that separated the outer and inner courts did not just fall but was ripped (think of Hulk Hogan ripping his shirt in half). God ripped the curtain not just as a demonstration of His strength, but it showed He was present and it was an intense moment that would mark the freedom to access God through His Son.
## Self-Check
Jesus became the sacrifice by which we can enter His presence. Take time to thank Him for the sacrifice made so we now have access into God's Holy Presence.
